Hello Troop and Pack 1657,
My name is Landen Buckson, and I am a Life Scout of the Timberwolves patrol, and I am proud to announce and share the details of my Eagle Scout Service Project. For my Eagle Scout Project, I am working with the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department to spread awareness of Fire Safety in the home and stress the importance of having a working smoke alarm.
My goal for this Eagle Scout project is to reach out to a minimum of 100 homes in Prince George’s County. My Eagle Scout project will be held on both April 29th and April 30th. On the 29th (Friday), I am having a representative from the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department, Teresa Crisman, come and speak to the troop about fire safety awareness from 7-8pm. She will present valuable information about fire safety in the home and also discuss the evolution of smoke alarms. Every scout will have the opportunity to participate and contribute to the success of my project by attending the information session and completing a survey with their parents at home.
On the 30th, I will lead a group of firefighters, adult leaders and scouts, and will be going into a neighborhood in Bowie, MD. As a group, we will provide 66 homes with packets of information about fire safety awareness and the opportunity to receive a new smoke alarm! We will ask each resident if they have a working smoke alarm, and if the resident does not have one, we will install a smoke alarm for free. This is potentially life-saving, and I am glad that this project can have a profound impact on our community.
I would like to ask for all of the scouts and their parents to come to the meeting on April 29th to welcome Ms. Crisman and to learn about Fire Safety in the home.
The meeting will begin promptly at the Worship Center at 7:00 pm in the main sanctuary. We would also like to welcome and invite the entire Cub Scout Pack to join to get this valuable information.
Thank you,
Life Scout Landen Buckson
