Scouts, Parents, Leaders, and Families — WE NEED YOU THERE!
Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend our next Troop meeting as we welcome our new Scoutmaster and discuss important plans, goals, and activities for the remainder of the Scouting year.
This is an ALL HANDS meeting! We want and need participation from our entire Troop family. Whether you're a Scout, parent, leader, or caregiver, your presence and input matter as we look ahead and work together to make this a successful Scouting year.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS: If you typically drop off your Scout and return at the end of the meeting, we ask that you please plan to stay and participate this time. Your involvement is important, and this meeting is an opportunity for everyone to hear the plans, ask questions, share ideas, and be part of the conversation.
Let's come together, show our support for our new Scoutmaster, and start this next chapter of our Troop's journey on the right foot.

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
Volunteers should arrive at 10:30am. Check-in at FBCG Worship Center, Rm 1305. A light breakfast will be available.
Scouts will work for 1 hour, then they will be allowed to enjoy the festival. We will divide into 2 shifts upon arrival.
Scouts should wear their Field Uniform (Class A); sash not necessary.
Adults should wear black shirt (top) with jeans (bottom) and comfortable shoes.
Most of the activities are outside. Dress accordingly.
Bring water, if you want.

Looking for a way to offset some of the Scouting fees for the upcoming year? Volunteers earn $15.00 per hour (each event is around 9 hours) working at select events at Northwest Stadium. Funds earned are credited directly to your Scout's account.

UPDATED Renewal Process
Scouting America is simplifying its membership renewal process, and important changes will take effect. The current membership lapse period will be phased out entirely on December 31, 2026.
Families need to start planning now for these changes.
In the past Scouting America has allowed a "Membership Lapse Period" which is the grace period that allows a member to remain active for a short time after their renewal date has expired while completing the renewal process. That grace period will be gradually reduced and then eliminated.
The phase-out will occur as follows:
October 2026 renewals: Two-month lapse period
November 2026 renewals: One-month lapse period
December 2026 renewals: No lapse period
Beginning January 1, 2027, members must have a current registration to remain active.

Email notification will be sent to the address associated with your www.myscouting.org account.
Paying Your National and Council Dues
From that email, you’ll be able to renew online and pay both:
BSA / Scouting America: $85
NCAC (District): $80
Paying Troop Dues: $80
After completing your BSA/NCAC payments, please pay your Troop 1657 dues ($80) through our Troop Request Form:
Choose “Registering your Scout for an Activity or Event.”
Select “Registration Dues.”
Pay via PayPal. Include your receipt number on the Troop Request Form.
Need Financial Assistance?
If you need help with the BSA/NCAC payments, financial assistance is available through their renewal system. NOTE: You will still need to make your $80 Troop payment through PayPal.

Safeguarding Youth training must be taken every year. If a volunteer’s Safeguarding Youth training is not current at the time of annual registration renewal, the volunteer will not be re-registered.

Safeguarding Youth training is required for all Scouting America registered volunteers and is a joining requirement.

In order to volunteer with the children and youth of First Baptist Church of Glenarden, you must successfully complete the required online background check form. The online background check form: https://www.ministryopportunities.org/opportunity/26893
Then, register for fingerprinting. Registration is required to get printed. We do not accept walk-ins. After you have registered for your time slot, you will receive a follow up email with a form to complete. Please make sure to check your email for any additional updates.

Please note that we do not allow same-day registration, as we must have sufficient time to confirm that all volunteers have completed the required online background check form prior to being fingerprinted. After registering, please watch your email for a required follow-up form and any updates.
NOTE: If you were fingerprinted by FBCG within the past seven years, you do NOT need to complete fingerprinting again.

If you have EVER served as a Merit Badge Counselor with Troop 1657 and would like to renew your affiliation, we’d love to have you continue supporting our Scouts!
Please take a moment to complete a new Adult Application and Merit Badge Counselor (MBC) Form as soon as possible. Be sure to update any badges you’d like to offer directly on the MBC form.
Once completed, please email a copy to boyscouts@fbcglenarden.com so we can track and assist with your submission.

If your email is already in our records, OneChurch will guide you through the next steps.
If your email is not recognized, the system will prompt you to request access or create your profile.
Step 4: Check your inbox for a verification email from OneChurch and click the link to confirm your account.
Step 5: Create a secure password and log in.
Once inside OneChurch, you can:

Review and update your contact information
Confirm your household details
Explore your ministry groups, volunteer teams, and communications
